    • Number of Weddings you have conducted? In total? Per Year? Between 20 – 30 per year on average.
    • Why did you look at buying a COL franchise? It was something completely different to anything I’d ever done before. I was at a stage in my life where I just needed a change of career and happened to come across it in research for my own wedding.  I thought it would be perfect, my own little investment and something I could put my creative mind to work on.
    • Did your expectations match what you have experienced? Why? Yes definitely.  I have had more weddings than I thought I would, the enquiries continue to roll in and the Industry is a great and happy one to work in.  There were no hidden costs involved with starting the business, there’s loads of support and you really can make it your own.
    • What do you love about your business? The flexibility of working from home to your own hours, arranging meetings when it suits, its great like that.  I love watching the actual weddings after the hard work is done and hearing everyone’s compliments about the beautiful ceremony set up.  That really does make it all worth-while at the end of the day.  I also love being outdoors and keeping active so this is perfect for that.
    • What do you dislike about your business? Not a whole lot.  Maybe just having to deal with bad weather and come up with a last minute plan B option. Long beach tracks can be physically demanding when carting gear but at the end of the day you feel you’ve worked hard, so that’s a good feeling.
    • What do you love about being a part of the Circle of Love Franchise System? I love that you are never on your own.  There is always support and help from all the other franchisees and our franchisor.  It’s an established proven business so everything is at your fingertips to run a successful franchise.
    • How has being a part of COL franchise benefited your business? Great marketing, continual leads, and constant support there.
    • How has being a part of COL franchise benefited you personally & your personal life? Now being a mother it means I can run a business from home whilst juggling mum life.  It means I can do my emails and invoicing etc when and wherever I need to, even on holidays if you wish.  It means you can also have time to work another casual job on the side which I used to do also.
    • Where do you see COL going? This is a steadily growing business with new Franchisees nearly every year so I see this continuing into the future.
    • Where do you see you going with COL? I see myself continuing to build my franchise and extend on my professional network of contacts which will be beneficial for a new buyer one day.
    • What has been your biggest challenge with COL? Juggling more than 1 wedding in a day.
    • How do you think COL can be better? Just to have more of us 🙂
    • How can COL help further your franchise? Just by keeping on top of current wedding trends and passing them on, finding good suppliers, marketing ideas to specific regions. This is already done so as long as it continues so will the growth of our franchises.
    • What would you like to see at COL? Being recognized internationally and operating in every state of Aus.
    • Any other comments? Best decision I ever made buying my franchise.

    • Why did you look at buying a COL franchise? Great opportunity to do something I have always been passionate about with having the convenience of working from home.
    • Did your expectations match what you have experienced? Why? Yes, the more work you put in to the business, the more you will get out of it. It takes time, but after my second season the business doubled in bookings, now reaching over 80 Weddings per year.
    • What do you love about your business? Working from home with flexibility, working with a variety of clients and building relationships with them. I love designing different ceremonies and applying them to appropriate venues. Seeing the product from start to finish is very satisfying.
    • What do you dislike about your business? Wind….
    • What do you love about being apart of the Circle of Love Franchise System? Support from Director and other franchisees.
    • What are some negatives about being apart of the Circle of Love Franchise System? None
    • How has being a part of COL franchise benefited your business? Business was already established with a great reputation and website, generating lots of enquiries that I would not have received on my own.
    • How has being a part of COL franchise benefited you personally & your personal life? Fits into my current lifestyle as I have two young children and I can have a good balance between work life and personal life. I have the flexibility to work the hours and days that suit me and my family.
    • Where do you see COL going? Expanding to all parts of Australia and growing together to build a brand that is competitive and popular with clients and vendors.
    • Where do you see you going with COL? I would like to continue to build the Melbourne region to be a recognized brand in the industry with lots of followers and relationships with vendors.
    • What has been your biggest challenge with COL? Keeping up to date with trends and competitors.
    • How do you think COL can be better? We can’t really do too much more at the moment, but the more marketing the better.
    • How can COL help further your franchise? Creating new products and keeping up with the current trends and applying them to my business. Assisting with building relationships, marketing and ongoing support.

     

Perth Franchisee – Jillian Horwood

  • Why did you look at buying a COL franchise? I wanted to run my own business, I love weddings/events and all the planning that goes with it and I loved the idea of working from home when I had a family, so when the opportunity arose I took it and I haven’t looked back.
  • What do you love about your business? The fact it is my own business and I can work the hours around my life and family. I love to help couples plan their ceremony styling and then bring it to life for them. I love the challenges and keeping busy.
  • What do you love about being a part of the Circle of Love Franchise System? Being part of a well-established Australia wide franchise has really helped my franchise in Perth grow. The ongoing help and support from the franchisor and fellow franchisees is amazing – it is a relief to know any questions I have are only a phone call or email away.  It sure does help knowing you’re never alone in the business/industry.
  • Where do you see COL going? I believe COL will continue to grow and expand across Australia and maybe even internationally. With new franchisees coming on board it will help build the brand, stay competitive and on top of industry trends.
  • Where do you see you going with COL? My 5yr contract is up in May 2018 and I think it will be time for me to move on and pursue other avenues in my personal life. I absolutely love what I do, so I am not sure what the future holds for me, but until then I know I will continue to stay dedicated and focused on my business.
  • What has been your biggest challenge with COL?  Balancing the business (which I give 100% too) and being a Mum (which I also like to give 100% too). It is getting easier thankfully. I do love a challenge and I make it work.
  • Did your expectations match what you have experienced? Why? Yes! I could never imagine I would be where I am today having styled over 130 weddings and shoots. It has been an amazing journey so far and I continue to exceed my expectations of what I can do!  If you can dream it you can do it! The networking has been great too, I have not only met some amazing suppliers but I now have some wonderful new friends.
  • What do you dislike about your business? Not being able to switch off sometimes. The passion I have and the service I like to provide to my clients means I am always busy – but I love it
  • How has being a part of COL franchise benefited your business? The franchise was established including the website, new leads for the area, suppliers, stock etc which gave me a head start over starting a new business from scratch
  • How has being a part of COL franchise benefited you personally & your personal life? It has helped me grow and become more confident in myself. The work-family balance has been challenging but good, when I was working full-time COL was my ‘happy place’ after work, now it is my full-time job and I can work around my family, go on holidays, participate in the kids activities during the day and have time off when I need it.
  • Where do you see COL going? There is so much potential for Circle of Love in Perth. The business is really trying to grow into reception styling and other services, however, I am unable to take on the additional services at this stage.
  • What has been your biggest challenge with COL? Multiple weddings on one day (as I am a perfectionist and every detail has to be to my standard at every wedding I do – which they are as I teach my staff to be up to my standards) and now managing weddings and my family (daughter) with limited (family) support.
  • How do you think COL can be better? There is always room for improvement and when anyone has ideas they are usually voiced to the franchisor and as a group, we decide what to do. I am happy with how things are going but it is good to assess marketing avenues frequently as they change so much.
  • How can COL help further your franchise?  Being on top of marketing strategies to stay high in Google rankings which helps bring in more leads.
