  4. Time with COL? Since October 2011 (nearly 2 years)
  5. Number of Weddings you have conducted? In total? Per Year? Close to 30 in my first year; and currently have 36 confirmed bookings for this year and upcoming; but also still getting more enquiries for bookings for this year – so hope to get 40-50 for this year. Unfortunately I had to turn down a few weddings while I was overseas in quiet season (June/July) which could have boosted my numbers a little too.

  7. Why did you look at buying a COL franchise? Because it was a dream career of mine and something I wanted to accomplish for myself. I wanted to own my own business and what better way to own a business that I’m highly passionate about. I love planning and organizing; and the wedding industry is such a beautiful and happy industry to be involved in. I am very lucky to have had this opportunity!
  8. Did your expectations match what you have experienced? Why? Yes and more. I didn’t really know what to expect. I was the 3rd franchisee onboard with COL and it had only been running a couple of years on the Gold Coast; and only just started on the Tweed Coast/Byron Bay when I started. In the time I have spent with COL; we have grown so much as a team and as a company Australia Wide. We have added another 5 amazing franchisees to our beautiful team and hope to get more on board soon. Our Director has marketed us to the best it can be; and has strived and achieved so much for this company. It is amazing what we have achieved in such little time. Finalists in 3 categories for the last 2 years in ABIA; and just recently awarded “Best Independent Wedding Decorator” for 2013! Our director has created our very own Wedding App for brides to enjoy; we have been featured in several magazines, and internationally known wedding blogs etc. The list goes on; and I feel very privileged and proud to be a part of such a wonderful company and team.
  9. What do you love about your business? I love the wedding industry in itself – the love and happiness in the air every time you meet a new couple; and then watching them say their vows and make their promises on their wedding day. I love helping couples plan and organize their special day to help make their dreams a reality.
  10. What do you dislike about your business? There is nothing I dislike about the business; however one thing that can be quite difficult is setting up weddings in bad weather (eg. Rain and windy conditions). You also really need to set a lot of time into the business to make things happen; and to drive it forward. Therefore there is a lot of hard work involved and a lot of “behind the scenes” computer work that can be very time consuming. However if you put the time in; you will see your business benefit; and you will get results in the end!

  13. How has being apart of COL franchise benefited your business? Not sure what you mean with this question sorry?? I didn’t have a business before COL…
  14. How has being apart of COL franchise benefited you personally & your personal life? Can you still have holidays, have a day off etc? COL has made me believe in myself more and more. I had never owned my own business prior to this; and I am so proud and happy for what I have achieved with my region in the 2 years I have run the business. I have networked and know many people in the wedding industry now; and Circle of Love is a “known” name by upcoming brides and wedding suppliers on the Sunshine Coast. I can choose when to take holidays, but usually like to take holidays during quiet season so it doesn’t affect me too much (financially and I don’t like saying no to bookings). However even when holidaying, I still take my laptop and reply to emails as much as possible. I wouldn’t feel comfortable taking time off and not responding to my clients or new enquiries. They depend on prompt replies.
  1. Where do you see COL going? I can see it growing more and more – further across Australia and possibly overseas. Jessica the Director is a very committed, driven and amazing person who will drive the company to the very best it can be. She is very smart, talented, dedicated and creative. Circle of Love will become more and more well known by “word of mouth” Australia Wide, because we will be one of the biggest wedding chain/franchise companies Australia Wide. We also offer very up to date/ IN styles…so we follow the current trends which is a major selling point for us. When couples see our products they really WANT it.
  2. Where do you see you going with COL? Unfortunately I have decided to sell my franchise due to the fact I would like to start a family soon and focus solely on that; without running a business at the same time.
  3. What has been your biggest challenge with COL? Working long hours and weekends.
  4. How do you think COL can be better? At this point in time, I don’t believe it can get any better. The company has grown to be an amazing well known company and has achieved so much!
  5. How can COL help further your franchise? Our Director acts as our mentor and is always there to answer any questions we have; or provide advice. This in itself is a wonderful help; aswell as marketing the business in the best areas. I believe the franchise already has a perfect setup to assist franchisees.
  6. What would you like to see at COL? I would love to see it grow more and more across Australia and overseas; into an internationally known company.

 

Brisbane North Franchisee – Yasmin Harvey

  1. Did your expectations match what you have experienced? Why? Not work experience, however studying Diploma of Venues and Events
  2. What do you love about your business? I love that we can work the hours we choose, it gives opportunity to still continue to work (hopefully only in the first couple of years until the franchise expands) and have a work-life balance. Also love the positive industry and satisfying people on their wedding day. I love doing something different and unique which is fun and interesting and being able to get out and about and setting challenges and goals.
  3. What do you dislike about your business? Nothing as of yet
  4. What do you love about being apart of the Circle of Love Franchise System? I love the constant support from everyone and hearing all different opinions on each topic
  5. What are some negatives about being apart of the Circle of Love Franchise System? I wouldn’t say negative but the only difficult thing so far has been purchasing additional equipment. As each franchise has different equipment, brides request to have something you may not have in stock therefore need to go out and purchase it. Can be quite expensive especially in the first few months of business where you aren’t making money

  7. How has being apart of COL franchise benefited you personally & your personal life? Can you still have holidays, have a day off etc? I think it’s definitely challenging to juggle everything, however it’s only going to make one stronger
  8. Where do you see COL going? Hopefully international
  9. Where do you see you going with COL? Would definitely like to have the franchise for atleast 10 years and expand it
  10. What has been your biggest challenge with COL? Probably just juggling work and study along with the business needs
  11. How do you think COL can be better? Have not come across anything that could be better
  12. How can COL help further your franchise? I think the on-going support and training is great
  13. What would you like to see at COL? Definitely expanding Internationally

  1. Why did you look at buying a COL franchise? It was something completely different to anything I’d ever done before. I was at a stage in my life where I just needed a change of career and happened to come across it in research for my own wedding! I thought it would be perfect, my own little investment and something I could put my creative mind to work on.
  2. Did your expectations match what you have experienced? Why? Yes definitely! I have had more weddings than I thought I would, the enquiries continue to roll in and the Industry is a great and happy one to work in! There were no hidden costs involved with starting the business, there’s loads of support and you really can make it your own.
  3. What do you love about your business? The flexibility of working from home to your own hours, arranging meetings when it suits, its great like that! I love watching the actual weddings after the hard work is done and hearing everyone’s compliments about the beautiful ceremony set up! That really does make it all worth-while at the end of the day! I also love being outdoors and keeping active so this is perfect for that!
  4. What do you dislike about your business? Not a lot! And No I can’t even say I’ve had to deal with a bridezilla as yet! J haha. Maybe just having to deal with bad weather and come up with a good plan B. Long beach tracks can be physically demanding when carting gear but at the end of the day you feel you’ve worked hard, so that’s a good feeling!
  5. What do you love about being apart of the Circle of Love Franchise System? I love that you are never on your own! There is always support and help from all the other franchisees and our franchisor! It’s an established proven business so everything is at your fingertips to run a successful franchise!
  6. What are some negatives about being apart of the Circle of Love Franchise System? None really!
  7. How has being apart of COL franchise benefited your business? Great marketing, continual leads, and constant support there.
  8. How has being apart of COL franchise benefited you personally & your personal life? Can you still have holidays, have a day off etc? It means I can do my emails and invoicing etc when and wherever I need to, even on holidays if you wish! It means I can also have time to work another casual job on the side and be flexible with shifts.
  9. Where do you see COL going? With its rapid growth this year already I can definitely see us having another few franchisees very soon and I wouldn’t be surprised if it went internationally also!
  10. Where do you see you going with COL? Hopefully I will still have my franchise for some time to come, and I see it as a business I can still run if I chose to start a family in the future!
  11. What has been your biggest challenge with COL? Juggling more than 1 wedding in a day!
  12. How do you think COL can be better? Can’t honestly think of anything!
  13. How can COL help further your franchise? Just by keeping on top of current wedding trends and passing them on, finding good suppliers, marketing ideas to specific regions. This is already done so as long as it continues so will the growth of our franchises.
  14. What would you like to see at COL? Being recognized internationally and operating in every state of Aus!
  15. Any other comments? Best decision I ever made buying my franchise, I love it! J

  7. Why did you look at buying a COL franchise? Great opportunity to do something I have always wanted to do with having the convenience of working from home.
  8. Did your expectations match what you have experienced? Why? At the moment yes as I have received 4 confirmed weddings in a couple of months, but time will tell!!! I hope to get a lot more bookings in the next month though.
  9. What do you love about your business? Working from home with flexibility, working with a variety of clients and building relationships with them. I love the designing of different ceremony set ups and applying them to appropriate venues.
  10. What do you dislike about your business? The distance I have to travel to client meetings and weddings as Melbourne is so big.
  11. What do you love about being apart of the Circle of Love Franchise System? Support from Director and other franchisees.
  12. What are some negatives about being apart of the Circle of Love Franchise System? Sharing your state with another franchisee.
  13. How has being apart of COL franchise benefited your business? Business is already established with a great website, generating lots of enquiries that I may not have received on my own.
  14. How has being apart of COL franchise benefited you personally & your personal life? Can you still have holidays, have a day off etc? Fits into my lifestyle as I have a one year old and I can have a good balance between work life and personal life. I can work the hours and days that suit me and my family.
  15. Where do you see COL going? Expanding to all parts of Australia and growing together to build a brand that is competitive and popular with clients and vendors.
  16. Where do you see you going with COL? As far as I can, the sky is the limit. I would like to build the Melbourne region to be a recognized brand in the industry with lots of followers and relationships with vendors.
  17. What has been your biggest challenge with COL? The marketing of the business as it is all new to me.
  18. How do you think COL can be better? We can’t really do too much more at the moment, but the more marketing the better.
  19. How can COL help further your franchise? Assisting with building relationships with vendors, perhaps by contacting sister hotels etc.
  20. What would you like to see at COL? Continued success with regions doing the best they can.

  1. Why did you look at buying a COL franchise? I have wanted to start my own business for a while however never had a clue where to start or what to do, then I stumbled upon the COL franchise for sale on gumtree and it went from there. The more information I got for the COL team and independent business advice the more excited I become. I love planning events, my wedding especially and I love helping people as well as styling and designing so this business opportunity was perfect for me.
  2. Did your expectations match what you have experienced? Why? It’s a bit too early to tell but it is definitely keeping me busy and I am enjoying it.
  3. What do you love about your business? The fact it is my own business and I can work the hours I can around my life and family. It is challenging especially at the start but after a few month things are getting easier and still enjoyable.

  5. What do you love about being apart of the Circle of Love Franchise System? I love the fact COL is already well know, it is Australia wide and that there is help and support whenever it is needed.

  8. How has being apart of COL franchise benefited you personally & your personal life? Can you still have holidays, have a day off etc.? Too early to tell, however I make sure I still have a day off a week to spend with my family. I still go away for weekend and holidays and I make my business work and around for me.
  9. Where do you see COL going? I think it will take off in Perth. Only being open a few months I already have many confirmed bookings and done a wedding. The styling and COL brand is unique and beautiful so I will do all I can to spread the word so every engaged couple have the opportunity to have COL for their wedding ceremony.
  10. Where do you see you going with COL? I see myself and my COL franchise blossoming over the next few years. With hard work, dedication and a passion for what I do I will make it succeed.
  11. What has been your biggest challenge with COL? Working full time as well as running my business and spending enough time with my family. It is challenging but I have a very supportive family and I hope to cut back in my current job to focus on my business and allow more time for fun!
